DAV Public Schools are based on the philosophy of Swami Dayanand Saraswati. In fact, Swami Dayanand Saraswati is the beacon of light for DAV movement. The DAV movement was founded in 1866 by Lala Lajpat Rai, a great freedom fighter of modern India. The first DAV School was established on 1^st June 1886 at Lahore with Mahatma Hansraj as the first Principal of the School. To spread the light of education Mahatma Narayan Das Grover moved from place to place and established schools and colleges in Punjab, Haryana, Jharkhand, Bihar, U.P., M.P., Orissa and West Bengal. Now-a-days DAV Schools are the largest non-governmental educational organization in India managing more than 720 educational institutions in various corners of the land and abroad.
