Bodhi Diwas
DAV Public School, Ara (Bhojpur) celebrated Swami Dayanand Bodhi Diwas with great fervour and gaiety. On this occasion, Hawan and different Vedic activities were organized in which students of Std. VIII participated and presented melodious Vedic Bhajan to mark the great occasion. Sweets & food packets were distributed among people belonging to weaker sections of the society residing in the surrounding areas of DAV public School, Ara namely Kayam Nagar, Dharhara etc. The Principal Dr. Meera Srivastava addressed the gathering and said that DAV schools are doing the good job in sustaining and spreading the great Vedic culture among new generation.
Vedic Activities
The school organizes Vedic activities throughout the year under the aegis of ‘Arya Pradeshik Vidya Sabha, Mandir Marg, New Delhi’. ‘Vedic Paricharya’ was organised during 06th Sept. to 08th Sept., 2013 on the premises of the school. ‘The Vedic Paricharya’ was inaugurated by great poetess and DAVian Mrs. Urmila Kaul. Several scholars like Prof. Gauri Shankar Tiwari, (Head, Dept. of Sanskrit, H.D. Jain College, Ara), Prof. Kamla Nand Singh (Ex-Head, Dept. of English, V.K.S. University, Ara), Shri Ved Nidhi Sharma (Senior Sanskrit Teacher, S.B. High School, Ara), Pt. Bharat Bhushan Pandey (a great Vedic Scholar) participated in Vedic Paricharya and highlighted the values enriched in Vedas in the uplift of the society in terms of moral, social, and scientific values. A large number of students participated in different activities organized under ‘Vedic Paricharya’.
Nirvan Diwas
The school celebrated Maharshi Dayanand Nirvan Diwas on 31st Oct, 2013. A ‘Shobha Yatra’ was organised to mark the occasion. Different Vedic activities like Vedic Quiz, Essay competition, Elocution contest, Vedic Bhajan were designed to mark the occasion. The programme was presided over by Mr. Kamta Prasad ‘Arya’, a great Arya Samajist.
Birth Anniversaries
The school celebrations like Mahatma Narayan Das Grover Jayanti, Lala Lajpat Rai’s Birthday, Swami Shraddhanand Balidan Diwas, and Mahatma N.D. Grover Smriti Diwas are organised with traditional gaiety and fervour. The students are involved in the programmes to learn the teachings of these great souls.
Satyartha Prakash Mahotsav
DAV Public School, Dhanupara, Ara and B.S.D.A.V. Public School, Mill Road, Nawada, Ara jointly organized ‘Bhavya Satyartha Prakash Mahotsav and 51 Kundiya Vishwa Kalyan Mahayagna’ from 26th Dec, 2013 to 28th Dec, 2013. Several Vedic scholars addressed the gathering and a Shobha Yatra was organized which was led by Mr. S.K. Sharma, Mahamantri, Arya Pradeshik Pratinidhi Sabha, New Delhi.
Several institutions and agencies are interested in organizing different competitions due to some reasons or the other. Recently, State Bank of India, Station Road Branch, Ara had organised painting competition on the premises of DAV Public School, Ara in which about 200 students took part. The Chief Manager SBI Station Road, Branch Ara, Mr. Narendra Kumar Pandey honoured the 1st, 2nd & 3rd rankers in the painting competition in different categories. The Principal of the school, Dr. Meera Srivastava was also present on the occasion.
Sarva Dharma Prarthana Sabha
DAV Public School, Dhanupara, Ara (Bhojpur) was given duty by the District Administration, Bhojpur to participate in ‘Sarva Dharma Prarthana Sabha’ organised on the death anniversary of late Babu Jagjivan Ram, Former Deputy Prime Minister of India. The Prayer was organised at Chandwa near Ara in Bhojpur district. A group of students of DAV Public School, Ara led by Music Teacher Mr. B.D. Thakur presented different Bhajan items and the whole of the atmosphere started ringing with pious hymns.
Contribution Towards The Society
DAV Public School, Ara organised several social activities and awareness programmes and attached itself with the welfare of the society. The school managed to distribute as many as 156 woolen clothes among women and children from weaker sections of the society in the biting cold. The Principal herself took part in this social activity. On the occasion of death anniversary of Mahatma Narayan Das Grover the school distributed food packets among hundreds of people from the deprived sections of the society. Several teachers along with the Principal, herself participated in this programme.
The school organised Candle March to register protest against ‘Delhi Gangrape’. The procession was led by Dr. Meera Srivastava, Principal of the school. She herself raised slogans against Delhi Gangrape.
The school tagged itself with the special drive launched by district police to make the students aware of traffic rules. A workshop to this effect was organised on 14th May 2012 on the premises of DAV Public School, Ara. The Traffic Inspector, Mr. Manmohan Tiwari addressed the gathering and emphasized the need to motivate parents regarding traffic rule. Orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Jitendra Kumar also spoke at the occasion and discussed the consequences of reckless driving.
Hindi Diwas
Hindi Diwas was celebrated on 13th Sept, 2013 on the school premises. Several teachers and students participated in the programme. The speakers expressed their views and highlighted the importance of Hindi in the development of the country in Indian perspective. Presiding over the function, the Principal of the school, Dr. Meera Srivastava urged the masses to streamline the language in the uplift of social and cultural heritage of India. The school celebrated ‘Tulsi Jayanti’ on 14th August, 2013 and ‘Prem Chand Jayanti’ on 2nd August, 2013. Such programmes are organised to create literary atmosphere in the school to generate interest of the students in the Hindi language.
